Good news for any James Ellroy/Hardboiled/Neo-noir film fans out there: Chud.com is reporting that a sequel to L.A. Confidential is all but confirmed.

The site is also reporting that Curtis Hanson, the director, Brian Helgeland, the screenwriter, and Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce would all be returning for this one – it’s a full house in that regard.

Hopefully Ellroy comes on board to help with the screenplay. After the massive disappointment that was The Black Dahlia, the world needs a decent film set in the “L.A. Quartet” universe.
